Cheddington: A World of Adventure
Or should that be Chessington?
At last a local town for me to visit. A little shy of 10 miles on the outward route this ride was going to be easier than most of late. I head off in the sunshine with no clouds in sight – only the freezing cold air reminds me that it’s not summer yet.
I take it easy to warm up out of Dunstable then, five minutes in to the ride I blast down Tottenhoe Hill. There’s a car coming up behind but he sensibly stays behind as I hit 40 mph with a little help from wind and gravity. The speed carries with me and after stopping at Cheddington I’m averaging 18 mph for the whole trip… but the route back will soon bring that down.
There’s nothing to hold me at Cheddington so I head out the other side of the village to Ivinghoe, then ride up to the Beacon and down towards Dunstable Gliding Club before heading up hill into Dunstable. Another town off the list.
