I had not been to Woburn Safari Park since I was but a teenager so was somewhat pessimistic when told that we were going there today. It’s moved on somewhat since my last visit and now has walk around areas where, if it takes your fancy, you can get up close and personal with emus and wallabies. Although I am not too sure whether the sign was aimed at the visitors or the emus, or indeed where I could find some adhesive.

One of Bedfordshire’s best kept secrets. Despite it’s high-priced coffee and snacks, this is developing as the number one place to go if you want a leisurely walk around a lake, or a cycle if you prefer.

Dunstable hasn’t had a station or a railway line since before I can ever remember. But as of today we have two pieces of good news: 1) we have an underground station (OK, no trains or underground anything, but a underground station’s sign), and 2) a new shop that is neither a hair salon or a kebab shop. It’s a traditional sweet shop. Well, traditional except that it’s help yourself and they did free face painting on their opening day. Good luck to all who sail (or travel) in her.

It would appear that Barton-Le-Clay is dead. Perhaps it got the Millennium bug?

Hmm… Adults £7.95, Children £4.95. I wonder if they taste like chicken?

I have never eaten here but it always looks nice. Perhaps one day.

If you didn’t know better you would have thought that this was another Dunstable business to go under. But no. This is Mimo – the Hair Fashions shop on High Street South. Open Monday to Saturday.

Pre-credit crunch Dunstable had many vacant shops and it would seem that things can get worse. I would suggest that the town could always fit in another kebab shop, but just out of shot to the right is a closed Chilli ‘n’ Spice. At least Beards ‘n’ Barnets are still open (even on Sunday).

When the budget allows the council splash out on some posh signage for the town. Unfortunately they went for the type that can be rearranged post-Sugar Loaf closing time as the Market is directly behind the sign, and the Tourist Information Office is behind me to my right (about 4 metres behind me – did they really need a sign?).

One of the many animals you can find in Bedfordshire is the Marmoset. This particular one is at Woodside Animal Farm in Slip End.
